This is not a way in

Where your password goes
Nowhere. Every other tool of this kind wants your locked file and your password uploaded to a stranger's server. Think about what that means for a bank statement. Here the lock is opened in your own browser, and neither the file nor the password leaves the device.

PDF has changed how it locks files four times in thirty years, and every one of those files is still out there. All four are handled — including the oldest, which is usually the one nobody else can be bothered with, and usually the one you actually have.
