How it works

    What you write here is saved on your own device as you go, so a browser that quietly closes the tab does not cost you the document. Signatures are deliberately left out of that draft — a signature is not something we will keep for you.

    A contents page that counts for itself

    Add a contents block and every heading is listed with the page it starts on. Working those numbers out is harder than it looks — adding the contents page moves every page that follows it — so the document is quietly laid out twice, and the numbers come out right.

    Nastaliq, properly

    Choose Nastaliq and the whole document — headings, paragraphs, every table cell — is set in the sloping script Urdu readers expect, with the words still selectable and searchable. English inside an Urdu document is handled too: it stays upright and reads left to right, where it belongs.

    Signatures and charts, drawn not photographed

    A signature here is kept as the path your finger took, and a chart as the lines and rectangles it is made of. Both print at full sharpness and add barely anything to the file. A photograph of a signature does neither.

    Codes drawn as shapes

    The QR code and the barcode are drawn as real rectangles, not pasted in as pictures. They stay perfectly crisp however far you zoom or however large you print, and they add almost nothing to the size of the file.

    Tables that read the right way

    In an Urdu document the first column belongs on the right, not the left. That is handled for you: the direction is taken from what you actually typed, so an Urdu table and an English table each come out the way their readers expect.

    Still text, not a picture

    Every heading, every paragraph and every cell is written into the PDF as text. You can select it, copy it out, search inside it, and a screen reader can read it aloud. Tools that draw the page as an image can do none of that.
